Glowing skin, especially when makeup free is one of the things everyone wants. It boosts confidence and is just overall better in every way. Nothing good comes easy though, which is why for those who choose natural remedies for their dull skin have to put in quite a lot of work.

One of the best remedies for dull skin is a face mask. Face masks aren’t a “one size fits all” remedy. They vary, especially DIY mixtures, depending greatly on the ingredients used. It’s always key to find the mix that’s just right for your skin type

Here are a few of our favorite and most refreshing face masks to get your skin glowing.

 

Honey and Coconut Milk Face Mask

Honey is naturally antibacterial, so it’s great for acne treatment and prevention. It is also extremely moisturizing and soothing, so it helps create a natural glow for the skin. Coconut milk has high levels of Vitamin C which helps maintain elasticity and flexibility of skin. It is also rich in copper, and prevents wrinkles, sagging skin and age spots. Most importantly, it helps to brighten the skin and leave it glowing.

The ingredients needed are:

  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 4 teaspoons of coconut milk
  • A cotton ball

Method:

  • Warm the milk up and mix it with the honey.
  • Apply the warm mixture on your face with a cotton ball.
  • Leave it on for 10-20 minutes.
  • Wash off with lukewarm water first and then again with cold water.

 

Turmeric face mask

Turmeric contains high levels of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, which aid in providing a glow and luster to the skin. It also revives your skin by bringing out your natural glow.

The ingredients needed are:

  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon of natural yogurt (or milk)

Method:

  • Put the turmeric in a bowl. Add the honey and yogurt. Ensure the paste is thick enough so that it doesn’t drip off your face and stain your clothes.
  • Apply the mask evenly on your face.
  • Let the mask stay on for 20 minutes.
  • Wash with cool water.

 

Oatmeal face mask

Oatmeal is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive skin will benefit from it because of its anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to give clean and clear skin when used as an exfoliant, especially when used in the right face mask. It removes dead skin, and acts as a natural facial and body scrub.

The ingredients needed for the face mask are:

  • 2 teaspoons oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons milk

Method:

  • Mix the honey, oatmeal, and milk to form a thick paste.
  • Apply the paste on the face and leave for 20 minutes.
  • Wash off with warm water.

 

Olive oil face mask

Olive oil helps skin to maintain its elasticity, smoothness, hydration and all round natural glow. It is rich in antioxidants, and serves as a moisturizer. It keeps skin well hydrated and prevents dryness. All of which are necessary to get glowing skin.

The ingredients needed are:

 

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 egg yolk

 

Method

  • Mix the egg yolk in a bowl with the olive oil.
  • Add a teaspoon of lemon juice.
  • Apply the mixture to your face for 10 minutes.
  • Wash off the mix with warm water, and then again with cold water to close the pores.

 

Banana face mask

Bananas are rich in vitamins which are a necessity for healthy, glowing skin. They contain moisture, potassium, and vitamins A, C and E. The vitamin A supplement restores lost moisture in the skin, and repairs dry or damaged skin.

Ingredients needed:

  • 1 sliced banana
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Method:

  • Mash the banana and stir the honey into the mixture,
  • Add the lemon juice.
  • Apply the paste on your face and leave on for 15 minutes.
  • Wash off with cold water.
